It provides exciting hands-on learning experiences for children of all ages for over 20 years. The unique blend of ancient crafts and skills combined with long-term construction projects, gives children and adults an opportunity to experience the realities of past life.

Activities and buildings are based on archaeological evidence from a range of periods including the Neolithic, Iron Age (Celtic), Viking, Roman and Anglo Saxon eras. Children and adults who visit perform tasks which are integral to the successful continuance of the centre.

Staff and volunteers are currently building a Viking Longhouse which will provide residential accommodation for a class of children, university groups or special interest adult groups.
