In 1985 the Verwood Twinning Association twinned with  Champtoceaux,
Later it included the nine villages of the Canton which since 2016 is now known as "Oree D'Anjou".
In 1991 Verwood also twinned with Liederbach in Germany.
In 2005 Verwood and 3LX received the Diploma of Europe.
In 2007 Verwood was the only municipality in the UK awarded the European Flag of Honour.
