In
June 2013 Verwood Fundraising Committee
is celebrating raising £100,000 for Cancer Research UK.
Members of the Committee have raised the money over the years through coffee
mornings, beetle drives, open gardens and fashion shows.
Penny
Woodman, Cancer Research UK’s Area Volunteer Manager
for the South West said: “I would
like to thank Verwood Committee for the fantastic
amount they have raised and the massive contribution they have made to our vital
work.
“Cancer Research UK has made enormous progress in
the fight against cancer and continues to do so. However, we have only been able
to do this thanks to the dedication and commitment of our volunteers and
supporters without whom we would not be able to fund our vital research.”
Shirley Grange, Chairman of Verwood Committee, said “I would like to thank the
generous nature of the people from Verwood who have always been very supportive
of the work that we do, and are the main reason that we have been so successful
in raising this amazing sum of money. But our work doesn’t stop here as there
is still more research to fund so that we can save more lives. We are now keen
to raise our next £100,000.
